Dr. Georgina Wilson is an Assistant Professor and Program Director in the Counseling, Educational Leadership & Higher Education department at Central Michigan University (CMU), housed within the College of Education and Human Services. She holds a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) from CMU, a Master of Education (M.Ed.) from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with minors in Psychology and Sociology. Her career spans 20 years in public education and 5 years in higher education.
Her research focuses on fostering belonging in educational environments through intentional relationship-building, equity frameworks, and trauma-informed practices. She designs leadership programs that integrate social justice and inclusion, emphasizing how administrators can cultivate supportive school cultures.
Dr. Wilson’s publications address pandemic-era educational leadership, social justice frameworks in schools, and student-centered assessment methods. Her recent work includes chapters in Qualitative Research in the Time of COVID and Who Decides? Power, Disability, and Educational Leadership.
She has received the 2023 Diane Newby Award for Inclusive Excellence and was named a 2022 YWCA Woman of Achievement. Her community roles include co-chair of CMU’s DEI Committee and trustee positions for United Way of Midland County and the Midland County Education & Service Agency.
