Georgina Chelberg is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Ageing Research and Translation (CARAT) within the Faculty of Health at the University of Canberra. She specializes in dementia caregiving, digital health, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health equity. Her current projects include leading a Seed Grant exploring parkrun prescriptions for dementia patients and co-investigating the SPICE Program evaluation. She holds a PhD focused on developing best practice frameworks for eHealth interventions with Indigenous populations.
Education includes a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Queensland and prior roles at Dementia Training Australia and CSIRO’s Australian eHealth Research Centre. Her research emphasizes culturally safe digital health solutions, particularly for dementia care and Indigenous communities. Key contributions include co-developing a best practice framework for eHealth interventions with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, published as a protocol in collaboration with CSIRO.
Research interests span dementia service accessibility, telehealth effectiveness, and health literacy among future healthcare professionals. She has authored over 15 peer-reviewed articles, focusing on topics like eHealth ethics, multicomponent dementia programs, and food insecurity screening in Indigenous communities.
Grants include a 2025 Seed Grant exploring physical activity interventions and collaboration in SPICE Program evaluations targeting residential aged care models. She is actively accepting PhD students and has advised on projects involving dietitian roles in early dementia interventions.
Georgina’s work bridges clinical practice and policy, emphasizing participatory approaches to ensure health technologies address community needs ethically and effectively. Her team is currently piloting multicomponent programs for dementia care partners and analyzing telehealth outcomes across diverse populations.
