Professor Georgina Brewis is a Professor of Social History at University College London's Institute of Education (IOE), within the Faculty of Education and Society. Her research focuses on higher education history, student culture, and humanitarianism in Britain and globally. She leads the Generation UCL project, commemorating 200 years of student life at UCL, and previously revised the university's official history. She teaches on the Education, Society and Culture BA and Public History MA programs.
Her academic contributions include co-authoring the upcoming Student London (2026) and The World of UCL (2018). Research interests span student life, voluntary action history, and intersections between education and societal structures. Awards include Senior Fellow status from the Higher Education Academy (2019).
Teaching and engagement remain central to her work, with a focus on linking historical analysis to contemporary educational challenges. Current projects emphasize public history and interdisciplinary approaches to understanding academic institutions.
