Dr. Robin Whitburn is a Lecturer in History Education at University College London's Institute of Education (IOE), part of the Faculty of Education and Society. With a 30-year background as a secondary school teacher in North-West London, he transitioned to academia in 2010 to support future history educators. His work focuses on inclusive history education, particularly integrating Black communities' histories and decolonizing curricula. He co-founded Justice to History to advance diverse historical narratives.

His research emphasizes historical enquiries as a pedagogical approach to empower students through active investigation. Collaborations include projects with the UCL Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slave-ownership and the Historical Association on Transatlantic Slavery education. He mentors PGCE trainees and supervises Ed.D. and Ph.D. students.
Awarded Fellowship by the Historical Association, Dr. Whitburn has presented globally on history education. He advocates for teacher development and has co-led initiatives like the HA Teacher Fellowship on Britain and Transatlantic Slavery.
He supervises doctoral candidates and engages in conference speaking. His work with Justice to History and the Historical Association underscores his commitment to accessible, inclusive historical education.
