Georgia Kosmopoulou is a Professor of Economics and Associate Dean for Research at the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences, University of Oklahoma. She holds prestigious titles including the Edith Kinney Gaylord Presidential Professorship (2009) and David L Boren Professorship (2022). Her research focuses on auctions, network analysis, strategic pricing, and public procurement, with applications in government contracting and firm dynamics. She has served in leadership roles, including Chair of the Faculty Senate (2011-2012) and as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (2013–2016). Her work has been recognized with the NSF Director’s Award for Superior Accomplishment (2024).
Prof. Kosmopoulou’s academic background includes a PhD from the University of Illinois (1996) and prior teaching at Virginia Tech. She co-edits the Southern Economic Journal and serves on editorial boards for Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization and Economics Bulletin.
Her current research explores subcontracting networks in public procurement, technology adaptation during crises, and the impact of network connectivity on art dealers. She has secured over $3.5 million in grants as a Principal Investigator, including NSF-funded projects on infrastructure spending and firm survival. Professional contributions include roles in national committees such as the National Science and Technology Council Subcommittee on Benefit-Cost Analysis.
