Dr. Georgia Fuller Symons is a Research Fellow in the Department of Neuroscience at Monash University's School of Translational Medicine. She holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Monash University and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from The University of Melbourne. Her research focuses on neurological consequences of brain injuries from sports concussion and intimate partner violence, using biomarker approaches in biochemistry, neuroimaging, and cognitive neuroscience. She leads a clinical trial on aerobic exercise as therapy for mild traumatic brain injury and co-chairs the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) committee in her school. She is also a member of the Victorian Amateur Football Associate (VAFA) advisory group that developed concussion guidelines.
