Georgi Sergiev

Dr. Georgi Sergiev holds the position of Associate Professor at the Department of Gymnastics within the Faculty of Public Health, Health Care and Tourism. Born on 12 July 1965 in Burgas, Bulgaria, he earned his Ph.D. in 2001 following studies at the National Sports Academy (formerly Higher Institute for Physical Culture and Sports). His career spans over three decades, combining academia with elite sports coaching.

Professionally, he has served as a coach for Bulgaria’s National Aerobics Team (1996–1999), Greece’s National Aerobics Team (1996–1999), and delivered international coaching seminars in Sofia and Athens. Notably, he authored the groundbreaking 2004 textbook *“Technique of Execution and Training Methods of Difficulty Elements”* in sports aerobics, recognized by FIG officials as a pioneering resource in the field.

His research focuses on sports training methodologies for artistic gymnastics and aerobics, supported by over 20 peer-reviewed publications. Sergiev is a certified judge in artistic gymnastics and serves on the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation’s Technical Committee. His international experience includes coaching camps in England and participation in global aerobics championships as both athlete and coach.
