Research emphasizes late Roman Empire history, with particular attention to manuscript studies, name analysis, and post-imperial linguistic evolution. He co-edited Languages and Communities in the Late-Roman and Post-Imperial Western Provinces (Oxford, 2023), exploring linguistic variegation in the Roman West. His Leverhulme-funded research investigates manuscript-based reinterpretations of late-antique historiography.
Teaching includes Latin language instruction and modules on fourth-century Roman Empire politics. His interdisciplinary approach integrates textual criticism, socio-linguistics, and material culture analysis.
Awards include the 2024 Leverhulme Prize (£100k) and multiple book reviews in The Critic and Standpoint. His publications span classical historiography, manuscript analysis, and post-Roman linguistic studies, with a focus on under-researched texts like Historia Augusta.
