George Rothman is a Professor at Brooklyn College's Conservatory of Music within the School of Visual, Media and Performing Arts, serving as Conductor of the Conservatory Orchestra. He is the founding Music Director and Conductor of Riverside Symphony, leading orchestras across the United States, South America, Asia, and Europe. His performances of diverse repertoire are routinely acclaimed by the New York Times and Musical America, praised as "adventurous, committed, [and] energetic".

Professor Rothman specializes in contemporary orchestral music and new compositions, having conducted over 150 world and local premieres by established and emerging composers globally. His artistic focus encompasses adventurous programming of major contemporary works, evidenced by Riverside Symphony's seven critically acclaimed CDs of world premiere recordings lauded by Fanfare for "awesomely assured performances." He actively engages as a pianist and lecturer in composer workshops and seminars.
He leads dual ensembles: the Brooklyn College Conservatory Orchestra and Riverside Symphony, driving innovation in both academic and professional musical spheres through rigorous rehearsal techniques and championing underrepresented composers.
