George Liamadis

George Liamadis serves as Associate Professor and Head of the Lab of Industrial Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), with additional visiting appointments at AUTH's Faculty of Engineering (School of Architecture) and the International Hellenic University's MSc Strategic Product Design program.

His academic credentials include:

• Architecture degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
• PgD/MA in Automotive Design from Coventry University, UK
• PhD in Industrial Design

Dr. Liamadis specializes in industrial design theory and practice, with pioneering work on the semiotics of industrial objects. His research integrates academic rigor with real-world industrial applications, particularly in automotive contexts, examining how design elements communicate meaning and function.

His scholarly recognition includes:

• Doctoral scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY)
• Excellence Award for doctoral research from AUTH's Research Committee

With 15+ years in industry, he has held key design roles at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, Jaguar Cars Ltd, and Pininfarina, serving as Chief Designer for EL.V.O.'s Aletis concept car. He also curated the 'Transport Technology' exhibition at NOESIS Science Center. As an active academic, he contributes to the Hellenic Semiotics Society and Technical Chamber of Greece while leading industrial design research at AUTH.
