George L. Donati is a Research Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Wake Forest University. His research focuses on developing analytical instrumentation and methodologies for trace element analysis, particularly in environmental, biomedical, and material science contexts. He holds a B.S. from the University of the Guaxupé Educational Foundation (2000), an M.Sc. from the Federal University of São Carlos (2006), and a Ph.D. from Wake Forest University (2010). Postdoctoral work included roles at the Federal University of São Carlos and Wake Forest University.
His research group, the Donati Lab, specializes in advancing spectrochemical instrumentation (e.g., ICP-OES, ICP-MS, LIBS) and integrating machine learning for applications like diabetes diagnostics and cancer drug development. Key areas include low-cost portable instruments, multi-energy calibration strategies, and statistical tools for data interpretation.
Publications highlight innovations in calibration methods, trace element detection in diverse matrices (biodiesel, urine, plant tissue), and interdisciplinary applications (e.g., environmental monitoring, clinical diagnostics). Research collaborations span institutions in Brazil and the U.S., emphasizing global impact in analytical chemistry.
