George Heninger, MD is Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry and Senior Research Scientist at Yale University's School of Medicine. He is affiliated with the Connecticut Mental Health Center and the Department of Psychiatry. Heninger earned his MD from the University of Utah in 1960. His research focuses on neuropsychopharmacology, mechanisms of psychiatric drugs, and translational research bridging basic science and clinical practice. He pioneered the Division of Molecular Psychiatry, advancing understanding of genetic and environmental factors in mental illness. He has mentored numerous leaders in psychiatry and neuroscience.
