Dr. George E. Shambaugh is a Professor of International Affairs and Government at Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and Department of Government. He serves as Director of the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program and Interim Vice Dean of Graduate Affairs for the School of Foreign Service. His research focuses on international politics, foreign policy, international political economy, and environmental governance. He holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and advanced degrees from Columbia University.
Dr. Shambaugh's academic contributions include influential books such as Oracles, Heroes, or Villains? and States, Firms, and Power, exploring economic policymaking and sanctions efficacy. He has authored/co-authored works on topics ranging from maritime piracy to congressional influence in foreign policy.
