George Denton is a Libra Professor and Distinguished Maine Professor at the School of Earth and Climate Sciences and Climate Change Institute, University of Maine. His research focuses on the geological history of ice sheets and mountain glaciers, particularly their role in Quaternary and late-Tertiary ice ages, and abrupt ocean-atmosphere reorganizations during glacial cycles. Ongoing projects include alpine glacier studies in the Chilean Andes and Southern Alps of New Zealand.
