Dr. George Chalhoub is an Assistant Professor at University College London (UCL) and an Associate Member at the University of Oxford's Department of Computer Science. He is also a 2024-2025 Fellow at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society. His research focuses on cybersecurity, privacy, and user-centered design for emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on smart homes, AI, and marginalized groups.
Education: Ph.D. in Cyber Security (University of Oxford), MSc in Computer Science (University of Southampton), BSc in Computer Science (Lebanese American University). Postdoctoral research at Oxford’s Secure Networking by Design (SNdB) project and internships at Microsoft Research and Nokia Bell Labs.
Research Interests: Security/privacy of AI and smart devices, UX in cybersecurity, ethical design, data worker practices, and content monetization. Over 15 publications in top venues like CHI, SOUPS, and IJHCS.
Awards: UK Global Talent Visa (2023), Berkman Klein Fellowship (2024-2025). Collaborates with industry leaders like Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Sir Nigel Shadbolt through the EWADA project.
Professional Activities: Member of the Human Centered Computing group at Oxford, co-author of 16+ peer-reviewed works, and patent holder for table column operations in spreadsheets (US20230325587A1).
