George Boustras

George Boustras is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Sciences, European University Cyprus (EUC). He previously served as Dean of the School of Business Administration (2014–2021) and Director of Postgraduate Studies (2013–2014). His academic journey includes a PhD in Probabilistic Fire Risk Assessment from Kingston University (2003), an MSc in Energy Resources Management (1997), and a Systems and Design Engineering degree (1995). He holds an e-Learning certification from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (2013).

His research focuses on occupational safety, risk assessment methodologies, and public health policy. Key areas include fire risk analysis, process safety in digitalized operations, and teleworking risk frameworks during crises. His work is frequently published in Safety Science and related journals, emphasizing practical solutions for industry and policy challenges.

He has led major EU-funded projects such as RESPOND-A (€360k), METICOS (€460k), and GRACE (€232k), addressing first responder tools, border security, and child exploitation prevention. His advisory roles include the World Bank’s National Reform Program for Greece and the Cypriot Energy Strategy Council.
