Dr. George Biddulph is a Lecturer (part-time) and Research Coordinator at the School of Geography & Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews, UK. He leads the secretariat for the United Nations Global Ocean Decade Programme for Blue Carbon (GO-BC) alongside Prof. Bill Austin and supports teaching, tutoring, and demonstration activities in geography and sustainable development.
- PhD in Geography (University of St Andrews, 2024)
- MSc Quaternary Sciences (University of London, 2019)
- BSc Human & Physical Geography (University of Reading, 2018)
His research focuses on paleoecological investigations of tropical peatlands and the climate mitigation potential of blue carbon ecosystems. Key areas include Congo Basin peatland dynamics, Late Pleistocene environmental change, XRF geochemistry, varved sediments, and anthracology.
Recent publications analyze peatland development in the Congo Basin (2022-2025), Holocene varve chronology in the UK (2020-2021), and interdisciplinary collaborations on carbon cycling and hydroclimatic vulnerability. Keywords span Physical Geography, Climate Change, Geochemistry, and Quaternary Science.
