George Armann is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Aviation at Ohio University's Flight Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University (2006) and currently advises and coaches the Ohio University Precision Flight Team. Prior to returning to Ohio University, he served as a teaching faculty member at Kent State University (KSU) from 2015, where he contributed to developing UAV management programs and designed FAA Part 107 certification courses.
His professional expertise includes over 4,000 flight hours as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) with instrument and multi-engine ratings. Armann played a key role in KSU's Enhanced Weather Information Systems (EWINS) research to improve thunderstorm avoidance strategies for commercial pilots. He also served as KSU's Flight Team Advisor, leading the team to multiple safety and performance awards.
At Ohio University, he revitalized the Precision Flight Team and founded the DRONE club, focusing on UAV construction and piloting education. He established the Alpha Eta Rho Upsilon aviation fraternity chapter and two new student organizations, fostering professional development in aviation communities.
