معرفی
PD Dr. Georg Köhr serves as Head of the Research Group "Physiology of Neural Networks" at the Institute of Psychopharmacology within the Clinic of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Central Institute of Mental Health (ZI), Mannheim. His dual role bridges clinical psychiatry and fundamental neuroscience research, focusing on molecular mechanisms of neural signaling.
Dr. Köhr's research centers on neural receptor physiology, synaptic plasticity, and neural network dynamics. Key areas include NMDA/GABA receptor function, molecular pathways of synaptic depression, and prefrontal cortex regulation of reward behaviors. His work integrates electrophysiology, molecular biology, and behavioral neuroscience to address psychiatric pathophysiology.
Analysis of his publication record reveals consistent emphasis on receptor subunit interactions and neural circuit regulation, with significant contributions to understanding synaptic transmission mechanisms from molecular to systems levels. Recent work (2021) explores prefrontal state transitions in behavioral extinction, highlighting translational relevance to addiction.
His scientific recognition includes:
- DFG Postdoc Fellowship at Stanford University (1989)
- Society for Epilepsy Research PhD Award (1990)
- Helmholtz Fellowship from German Federal Ministry of Research (BMFT, 1992)
As leader of the "Physiology of Neural Networks" laboratory, Dr. Köhr directs a multidisciplinary team investigating neural signaling mechanisms using advanced electrophysiological, molecular, and behavioral approaches to develop novel psychiatric therapeutics.
