Geoffrey Parsons Miller is the Stuyvesant P. Comfort Professor of Law at New York University School of Law. He serves as Director of the Center for Financial Institutions and Faculty Co-Director of the Center on Civil Justice. Miller holds a BA (magna cum laude) from Princeton University (1973) and a JD from Columbia Law School (1978), where he was editor-in-chief of the Columbia Law Review. His career includes clerkships for Judge Carl McGowan (US Court of Appeals, DC Circuit) and Justice Byron White (US Supreme Court), followed by roles at the US Department of Justice and the University of Chicago Law School before joining NYU in 1995. His research focuses on financial institutions, corporate compliance, ancient law, and legal theory, with over 200 publications. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences (2011) and co-founded the Society for Empirical Legal Studies. Miller also serves on the board of State Farm Bank, chairs its audit committee, and contributes to global regulatory initiatives. His teaching spans courses on banking law, corporations, and large-scale litigation.
