Dr. Abrams’ research delves into the pathobiology of tendinopathy, emphasizing the role of microRNA and tendon-derived stem cells in disease mechanisms. He leads clinical trials on novel treatments like TenoMiR for lateral epicondylitis and PEMF therapy for postoperative pain. His work spans surgical techniques, such as hinged external fixation for knee injuries, and comparative studies on chondrocyte viability in cartilage restoration. Recent publications highlight outcomes in ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs, and injury prevention in soccer through noncontact mechanism analysis.
Recent trials led by Dr. Abrams include evaluations of microRNA-based drugs for tennis elbow, PEMF therapy for postoperative pain, and the safety of knotless suture anchors in shoulder surgery. His studies often utilize MRI for anatomical assessment and functional outcome metrics like VAS and qDASH.
