Geoff Hayward is a Professor of Education at the University of Cambridge’s Faculty of Education. Previously, he held roles including Director of Research at the University of Oxford’s Department of Education, Head of the School of Education at the University of Leeds, and contributed to initiatives like the Nuffield 14-19 Review of Education and Training and the ESRC Research Centre SKOPE. His research focuses on vocational education policy, social disadvantage, transitions into higher education and the labour market, and learning transfer. He is affiliated with the Leadership for Learning network.

Research Interests: Hayward’s work examines how vocational education systems interface with broader societal structures, particularly addressing issues of equity and access. His recent projects include studies on the mathematics teacher workforce in Further Education and the development of technical education pathways.
