Geoff Dancy is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Toronto Mississauga. His research focuses on empirical studies of human rights, transitional justice, and the impact of International Criminal Court interventions. He previously directed the Transitional Justice Research Collaborative (TJRC) and currently leads the Transitional Justice Evaluation Tools (TJET) project funded by Global Affairs Canada, developing accountability measures for human rights violations. His work appears in journals such as International Organization and Journal of Conflict Resolution. Dancy holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota (2013) and taught at Tulane University for nine years before joining U of T.

- Transitional justice mechanisms (truth commissions, prosecutions)
- ICC’s role in atrocity prevention and global governance
- Human rights discourse & pragmatism
- Structural violence in U.S. contexts (gun policy, Louisiana)
- Democratic decline and post-conflict reconciliation
Grants & Projects: Lead investigator on TJET project, supported by Global Affairs Canada. Former director of TJRC.
Labs/Teams: Coordinates the TJET initiative and collaborates with global researchers on transitional justice metrics. Engages in interdisciplinary research bridging qualitative and quantitative methods.
