Genevieve LeBaron is Distinguished Professor of Global Supply Chain Governance at Simon Fraser University's School of Public Policy, where she directs the Centre for Public Policy Research. Her award-winning research examines forced labour in global supply chains and evaluates governmental, industry, and worker-led strategies to combat exploitation.
Research interests focus on labour governance failures, corporate accountability, and inequality within global production networks. Her interdisciplinary approach combines political economy, business ethics, and labour studies to analyze contemporary slavery and develop effective interventions.
Publications consistently address themes of supply chain transparency, wage theft, and regulatory frameworks. Recent work investigates COVID-19's disproportionate impact on garment workers and innovative worker-driven social responsibility models.
Notable scientific honors include:
- Academy of Management SIM Division's Best Book Prize (2020)
- Election to Royal Society of Canada's College (2020)
As Co-Principal Investigator of Re:Structure Lab, she leads collaborative research across SFU, Stanford, and Yale. Funded by SSHRC, ESRC, Ford Foundation and others, her projects inform policy through engagements with UN agencies, governments, and corporations.
She directs the Centre for Public Policy Research and advises the UK Parliament's Modern Slavery Committee, developing anti-exploitation measures for business models and supply chains.
