Gen Li

Gen Li is an Associate Professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), specializing in power engineering and energy systems. He holds a B.Eng. from Northeast Electric Power University (2011), M.Sc. from Nanyang Technological University (2013), and Ph.D. from Cardiff University (2018). His research focuses on HV/MV DC grid technologies, offshore wind integration, energy islands, and power electronics reliability. He has been a Marie Curie Fellow (2013–2016) and Visiting Researcher at leading institutions globally.

Research interests include DC grid protection, offshore renewable energy systems, and energy storage integration. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery and CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems, and received the CIGRE NGN Significant Contribution Award (2024) and CIGRE Thesis Award (2018).

Current projects include coordinated control of energy storage in energy islands and Baltic Energy Island research. He advises PhD students in power systems and energy technologies.
