Gemma Tonkinsmith

Gemma Tonkinsmith serves as Senior Lecturer in Practice Learning and Subject Lead for Placements within the School of Nursing, Midwifery, Allied and Public Health at the University of Kent. Based in Canterbury's Johnson building (Jg30), she coordinates clinical placements across NHS trusts, primary care networks, and independent healthcare providers to immerse nursing students in evolving health and social care systems.

Her expertise spans nursing education design, community-based care models, and complex patient management frameworks. She employs collaborative strategies to expose students to diverse nursing roles through partnerships with healthcare organizations, emphasizing adaptability in contemporary practice environments.
