Dr. Gemma Doleman is a Research Fellow in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Edith Cowan University (ECU). She holds a PhD (2017) and a Bachelor of Nursing (2007), both from ECU. Her research focuses on nursing workforce retention, job satisfaction, organizational communication, and practice environment dynamics. With over a decade of clinical experience as a registered nurse specializing in anaesthetic nursing and tertiary hospital care, she bridges clinical practice and academic research.
Her research portfolio includes studies on pandemic impacts on healthcare workloads, nurse retention strategies, and gender pay gaps in nursing. Key projects involve evaluating practice environment initiatives and analyzing workforce challenges such as overqualification and underemployment among nursing graduates. She has secured grants from institutions like Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the Department of Health WA, focusing on nurse manager support, workload methodologies, and remote healthcare engagement.
Dr. Doleman has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Journal of Nursing Management and Journal of Advanced Nursing. Her work emphasizes evidence-based frameworks to improve healthcare systems, with a focus on organizational communication effectiveness and patient-centered care.
