Gemma Caughers is a Lecturer (Education) in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen's University Belfast, within the Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Sciences. She specializes in cardiology nursing, patient-led co-design methodologies, and healthcare education. Dr. Caughers leads several initiatives including the Postgraduates Always Write (PAW) program and coordinates modules on Cardiology Nursing and Cardiovascular Disease Prevention.
Her research focuses on improving cardiac rehabilitation engagement, prevention strategies for cardiovascular diseases, and nurse education through digital interventions. Notable projects include the co-design of the ASMOSUS digital resource for nursing students and a pancreatic cancer awareness game. She holds a PhD from Queen's University (2023).
Dr. Caughers has been recognized with awards including the Best Poster (2022) and Highly Commended Educational Meeting (2023). She actively participates in professional organizations like the Irish Nurses Cardiovascular Association (INCA) and chairs sessions at international conferences such as ACNAP 2025.
