Geir Stenseth is a Professor at the Department of Private Law, University of Oslo (UiO). His research focuses on Property Law, Natural Resources Law, Legal Theory, Legal History, and Takings Law. He holds a Cand. jur. and dr. juris from UiO. Previously, he served as a Research Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UiO, Deputy Judge at the Ministry of Justice, and taught at Lillehammer University College. He has been a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley School of Law.
Education: Cand. jur. and dr. juris from University of Oslo.
Research Interests: Stenseth’s work emphasizes foundational questions in Property Law, comparative analyses of takings compensation, and the intersection of legal theory with historical and economic perspectives. His recent publications explore empirical foundations for property law principles and economic approaches to takings.
Professional Activities: Active in research groups such as ELAWNET (Energy Law in the green transition) and RIPPLES (Rights, Institutions, Procedures, Participation, Litigation). He contributes to projects examining legal frameworks for net-zero emissions and security-related legal issues.
