Geir Egil Dahle Øien

Geir Egil Dahle Øien is a Professor at NTNU's Department of Electronic Systems (IES) within the Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. He holds leadership roles including Pro-Rector of Education (2025-2029), Director of SEED Center, and former Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Mathematics and Electrical Engineering (2009-2019). He earned his MSc (sivilingeniør) and PhD from NTNU's Department of Telecommunications.

His research focuses on engineering education development, signal processing, wireless communications, and information theory. He has authored/co-authored 150+ publications and supervised over 20 PhD students. Key roles include President of the Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences (2024-2026), SEFI Board Member (2023-2026), and leadership in international initiatives like the CDIO Conference and Nordtek.

Notable projects include NTNU's 'Future Technology Education' (FTS) initiative (2019-2021) and leadership in educational reform. His work emphasizes active learning, lifelong learning in engineering, and institutional development of educational centers.
