Geeta Menon

Professor Geeta Menon is a Professor at the University of Greater Manchester Medical School and a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. She specializes in medical retina, particularly novel treatments for AMD, and pioneered the UK’s first Mobile Macular Unit, which earned the ‘Best example of Efficiencies’ award. She serves as Clinical Director for the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Clinical Research Network (KSS CRN) and holds national NHS roles, including National Clinical Director for Cancer and Diagnostics Workforce, and Leadership positions in SAS/Locally Employed Doctors and MWRES. She chairs BAPIO (British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin) as its first female Chair since 2023.

Her research and clinical contributions span global health initiatives, such as establishing Diabetic Retinopathy Screening programs in Zambia, St. Lucia, and Northern India. She has been recognized with multiple awards, including the RCP’s Outstanding Research Leadership Award (2016) and Excellence in Patient Care International Award (2017).

Her leadership extends to education and workforce development, serving as Postgraduate Dean for Health Education England in South London and leading national initiatives for inclusive career pathways in healthcare. She oversees the University of Greater Manchester Medical School’s Institute of Medical Sciences, contributing to both clinical excellence and academic innovation.
