Gedion Onyango is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi and a Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg. He serves as a co-Principal Investigator at the ESRC-funded Centre for Public Authority and International Development (CPAID) and holds editorial roles at the Evidence & Policy Journal and other publications like the Canadian Journal of African Studies and SN Business and Economics. His expertise spans public policy, governance, and technological transformations in African contexts, with a focus on accountability reforms, whistleblowing, and digital governance across South Africa, Uganda, and Kenya.
His research has influenced international policy documents, including the International Labour Organization’s 2022 white paper on whistleblowers and OECD publications on digitalisation and Sustainable Development Goals. Gedion is actively engaged in peer review for ESRC, South Africa’s National Research Foundation, World Bank, and academic publishers. He co-founded the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Region Epistemic Community (IREC) and contributes to Afrobarometer as a Co-National Investigator for Kenya.
