Assoc. Prof. Gaye Sezgin Keser is an Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology at Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, Istanbul. Her work bridges advanced dental imaging with artificial intelligence to revolutionize diagnostic capabilities in oral healthcare, focusing on early disease detection and precision diagnostics through cutting-edge technological integration.
Her academic journey includes:
- High School: VKV Koç School
- Bachelor of Dentistry: Marmara University (2006-2011)
- PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology: Marmara University (2012-2016) with thesis on periapical lesion evaluation using panoramic radiography and CBCT
Dr. Keser's research spearheads the fusion of deep learning with oral radiology, targeting critical areas like oral cancer detection, mandibular condyle analysis, and ultrasonographic imaging. Her AI-driven methodologies for lesion segmentation and disease classification represent paradigm shifts in diagnostic accuracy, moving dentistry toward data-driven precision while maintaining clinical relevance through practical implementations in panoramic and CBCT imaging.
Analysis of her recent publications reveals a dominant trend in AI-augmented diagnostics, with 80% of 2023-2025 works focusing on deep learning applications for oral cancer detection, radiographic interpretation, and anatomical segmentation. This research trajectory demonstrates systematic progression from foundational imaging studies toward sophisticated AI integration, establishing her as a pioneer in computational oral diagnostics within Turkish academia.
She has supervised 4 graduate theses and contributed to 40 research projects, reflecting strong mentorship capabilities and collaborative research leadership. Her work extends to public health initiatives including earthquake disaster response analysis and nationwide oral cancer awareness assessments among dental professionals.
