Gavin Washington is an Associate Professor of Sport Management at Midway University, with over two decades of experience in sport management, athletics, and health and wellness education. He previously led academic programs in Sport Management, Exercise Science, and Health and Physical Education at Kentucky State University for seven years.
His educational background includes:
- B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Asbury University
- M.S. in Sports Administration from Eastern Kentucky University
- Ed.D. in Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation from the University of Kentucky
Dr. Washington’s research and professional interests center on sport management, physical education, health promotion, and athletic administration. His career bridges academic leadership and practical coaching experience, having taught and coached from elementary to intercollegiate levels.
He is actively involved in professional service, currently serving on the Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Board of Control and the Kentucky Society for Health and Physical Education's executive board. These roles reflect his commitment to shaping policy and standards in school-based sports and physical education.
Dr. Washington is a native of Versailles, KY, and enjoys playing basketball and spending time with his family in his personal time.
