Gatis Upesleja is an Acting Lecturer and PhD student in the Department of Health Psychology and Paedagogy at Riga Stradins University. He also serves as a Senior Laboratory Assistant at the Institute of Public Health. His research focuses on socio-psychological factors influencing health behaviors, particularly during crises like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Education: PhD candidate in Health Psychology (Riga Stradins University). Research projects include studying pandemic compliance behaviors, motor reserve in cognitive dysfunction, and long-term lifestyle trends. His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
Key research interests include public health policy, psychological resilience, risk perception, and cross-sectional analysis of behavioral patterns. His recent articles analyze vaccination behavior and pandemic adaptation strategies in Latvia.
Grants & Projects: Involved in RSU grants (e.g., MOBILE-COG) and national research programs (e.g., Impact of COVID-19 on Latvia’s healthcare system). Served as project leader for studies on socio-psychological indicators during pandemics.
