Gary Sivak is an Instructor, Technical Director, and Designer in the Theatre Department at Belmont Abbey College. He teaches courses such as Intro to Stagecraft, Lighting Design, and Set Design, emphasizing hands-on training in lighting, sound, carpentry, video, music, and 3D modeling. He leads technical design and execution for approximately six shows annually. Known for inspiring students new to live theatre, Sivak has received numerous accolades for sound design from Creative Loafing and the Metrolina Theatre Association, including multiple Best Sound Design awards and nominations spanning 1992–2013. Beyond teaching, he coordinates events with the Admissions department, oversees Oetgen Scholarship student projects in set building and crew duties, and manages the Haid Theatre's technical operations between productions.
