Gary Marchant is a Regents' Professor of Law at Arizona State University, where he serves as Faculty Director of the Center for Law, Science and Innovation and holds affiliations with the Lincoln Center for Applied Ethics, Center for the Study of Religion and Conflict, and the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute of Sustainability. He also holds a joint appointment in ASU’s School of Life Sciences.

Research Interests focus on the legal and ethical governance of emerging technologies, including genomics, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, and synthetic biology. He explores intersections between law and science, particularly in personalized medicine, genetic liability, and regulatory gaps for rapidly evolving technologies.
Publications span over 150 articles and book chapters, emphasizing technology law, bioethics, and environmental regulation. His 2013 book Innovative Governance Models for Emerging Technologies established frameworks for adaptive regulatory systems.
