Gary Born is an Adjunct Professor of Law and a globally recognized authority in international arbitration and litigation. He is Chair of the International Arbitration Practice Group at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP and maintains honorary academic affiliations with the University of St Gallen, Switzerland, and Tsinghua University, Beijing. He regularly teaches at law schools across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
His research focuses on international commercial arbitration, international litigation, and transnational dispute resolution. He is the author of the definitive treatise International Commercial Arbitration, widely regarded as the most comprehensive and authoritative work in the field. His scholarship has shaped modern arbitration practice and legal frameworks globally.
His publications, particularly his 2020 treatise, demonstrate deep engagement with core areas of international arbitration, including procedural fairness, enforcement mechanisms, jurisdictional issues, and institutional frameworks.
