Garett Michael Brownlee is an Assistant Clinical Professor and Director of the MSW@Denver program at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work. He specializes in equity-focused education, clinical social work, and organizational transformation. His work emphasizes human-centered approaches to foster belonging and justice in communities. Garett holds an MSW from the University of Texas at Austin (2014) and a BS in Journalism & Communications from Utah State University (2007), alongside certifications in Improvement Science and healthcare improvement.
Previously, he served as Vice President of Programs & Operations at the “I Have a Dream” Foundation of Boulder County (2015–2020), leading programs supporting over 1,200 youth, and as Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Whole Foods Market Foundations (2013–2015), managing $1M+ in grants. He is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and founder of GBPCollaborative, which focuses on organizational equity and strategy.
Garett’s research and practice center on improving systems through collaboration, data-driven approaches, and DEI initiatives. He has led projects funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Carnegie Foundation, and others, emphasizing scalable solutions for education and social justice. His expertise spans coaching, strategic planning, and capacity building in K-12, higher education, and nonprofit sectors.
