Garett Jones is a Professor of Economics and BB&T Professor for the Study of Capitalism at George Mason University's Mercatus Center. His research focuses on macroeconomics, economic growth, monetary economics, and the microfoundations of institutional quality. He holds a PhD from UC San Diego, along with degrees from Brigham Young University, Cornell, and UC Berkeley. Jones has authored three influential books, including Hive Mind (2015) and 10% Less Democracy (2020), and served as an economic policy adviser to Senator Orrin Hatch and the U.S. Joint Economic Committee.
