Dr. Gareth J. Bennett is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Trinity College Dublin. He holds a B.A.I. (1994), M.Sc. (1996), and Ph.D. (2006) from Trinity College Dublin. His research focuses on Sound, Vibration, Aeroacoustics, Engineering Design, and Engineering Education. He coordinates EU FP7 collaborative projects and managed a FP5 EU project (Silencer) from 2002-2007. He currently advises six graduate students.

His work spans academic research and industry collaboration, including roles at Portugal’s Nuclear and Technological Research Institute (ITN) and France’s LEGI fluid mechanics laboratory. He pioneered curriculum reforms in project-based design education at TCD, earning the university’s top teaching award. Current research includes medical device design and aeroacoustic engineering.
