Ganesh Srinivasan Anand is an Associate Professor of Chemistry at Pennsylvania State University, affiliated with the Eberly College of Science and the Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences. He also collaborates with the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics and the Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry Core Facility. His research focuses on the dynamics of large biomolecular complexes, particularly viruses, and their assembly, regulation, and function through mass spectrometry.
- Doctoral Degree: Rutgers University
- Undergraduate: Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India
- Postdoctoral Training: Howard Hughes Medical Institute at University of California San Diego
His research explores how large macromolecular complexes relay long-range cues, using mass spectrometry at the chemistry-biology interface. Key areas include SARS-CoV-2 spike protein dynamics, dengue virus structure, and allosteric regulation in kinases. Recent publications analyze conformational changes in viral proteins and their implications for therapeutic design.
As a leader in structural mass spectrometry, he is developing a core facility at Penn State and integrating virus dynamics with immunology for pandemic preparedness. His work spans molecular virology, protein biophysics, and environmental sensing in pathogens, with applications to viral therapies and drug development.
