Dr. Galit Kaunitz is an Assistant Professor of Music at Colorado State University. An active orchestral musician, soloist, and chamber music performer, she co-hosts the Double Reed Dish podcast and explores themes of culture and identity through her performances. She has performed at numerous International Double Reed Society conferences and the College Music Society conferences, and is committed to diversifying the musical canon through collaborations with composers and advocacy for underrepresented works.

Her research focuses on commissioning and performing new works for oboe and bassoon, including the 2022 album All Are Welcome, which features compositions by Connor Chee, brin solomon, Mason Bynes, and Kate Pukinskis. She is also dedicated to uncovering the legacy of composer Elizabeth Gyring through recordings and performances. As a teacher, she emphasizes student empowerment and success in their future endeavors.
