Gaelen McCormick is an Instructor of Arts Leadership at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. She leads the Eastman Performing Arts Medicine Center (EPAM), a collaboration between the Medical Center and Eastman School, focusing on arts and healthcare intersections. Formerly a double bassist with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (1995-2017), she transitioned to arts administration post-hearing loss in 2017.

Her teaching spans double bass instruction at Nazareth University (2010-2017) and the Eastman Community Music School since 2001. She founded the Rochester Bass Retreat and delivers masterclasses globally. Advocacy focuses include disability rights and arts equity.
Publications include Mastering the Bow, Double Trouble, and contributions to Routledge's pedagogy anthology. Upcoming: annotated Simandl Etudes (2025).
