Gabriella Stringer is a Researcher affiliated with the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London, working within the Centre for Research in Equality and Diversity (CRED). She holds a Master of Science in Public Policy and Human Development (specializing in Social Protection Design) from the United Nations University-MERIT/University of Maastricht (2015-2016) and a First Class Honors Bachelor of Arts in Peace Studies from the University of Bradford (2011-2015). Her research focuses on the intersection of maternal bodily experiences and workplace dynamics, particularly exploring tensions between employer expectations and women’s lived realities during fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding.
Her current project, The Maternal Body At Work, investigates how physical and mental impacts of motherhood affect employment rights access. Collaborating with Maternity Action and CRED, the research employs surveys, focus groups, and interviews to identify gaps between legal frameworks and employer practices. Findings aim to inform policy reforms addressing systemic workplace inequities faced by pregnant women and new mothers, especially amid post-pandemic economic challenges.
Her work intersects with critical scholarship on equality and social justice, emphasizing actionable recommendations for employers, policymakers, and advocacy groups. This research strengthens ties between CRED’s academic expertise and real-world policy impact through partnerships with NGOs, trade unions, and legal stakeholders.
