She previously held a professorship at the University Hospital Regensburg (2002-2007) before moving to TUM in 2007. Her research focuses on immunological mechanisms in tumor response to radiation, particularly involving heat shock proteins (Hsp70) and natural killer (NK) cell therapies. Current work explores radioimmunotherapy combinations and immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Research Interests:
- Development of Hsp70-based diagnostics and therapies
- Radiotherapy-boosted immunotherapies
- Cellular responses to hypoxia/normoxia in tumors
- Novel NK cell activation strategies
Key Achievements
- Phase II clinical trial demonstrating NK cell efficacy post-radiochemotherapy
- cmHsp70.1 antibody development for tumor targeting
- Over 20 years of translational oncology research
Awards include prestigious recognition in hyperthermic oncology (ESH0-BSD 1996) and immunotherapy innovation (CESAR 2015). Active in academic leadership and industry collaborations through her biotech company.
