Dr. Gabriela Fragiadakis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Her research focuses on computational immunology, integrating single-cell omics and data science to study immune system dynamics in health and disease. She leads the Data Science CoLab, fostering collaborations in viral infection, cancer immunology, autoimmunity, and microbiome interactions. Her work bridges high-dimensional data analysis with clinical applications, including immune-microbiome interactions and precision medicine strategies.
Education includes a PhD in Microbiology & Immunology from Stanford University (2016) and a BA in Molecular & Cellular Biology from UC Berkeley (2011). She completed postdoctoral training at Stanford School of Medicine (2019).
Key research interests span single-cell technologies, immune system coordination, and translational applications. Over 150 peer-reviewed publications reflect her contributions to understanding immune responses in conditions like COVID-19, autoimmune diseases, and inflammatory bowel disease. Her lab develops tools like the Cyclone pipeline for cytometry data and the UCSF Data Library for high-dimensional datasets.
Clinical and translational work includes studies on dexamethasone efficacy in severe respiratory failure and gut microbiota's role in immune modulation. She collaborates on pan-cancer immune archetypes and anti-inflammatory therapy mechanisms in colitis.
