Gabriel L. Judkins is a Professor in the Department of Geoscience at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). He holds a Ph.D. from Arizona State University (2009). His research focuses on human-environment geography, emphasizing land degradation, natural resource management, and the interplay between global trade and environmental systems. He specializes in remote sensing, GIS, and geovisualization techniques for environmental monitoring, including applications in agricultural sustainability and pedagogy development.
Dr. Judkins has developed geospatial tools such as the mobile augmented reality sandbox (Landstorm) with Dr. Michael Nicholl to enhance spatial learning in undergraduate education. His work also addresses transboundary water disputes and policy analysis, as seen in studies on the Yuma Desalting Plant and Cienega de Santa Clara. He is a recipient of the American Library Association's 'Outstanding Reference Source' award (2010) for his encyclopedia entry on environmental determinism.
