Gabriel Harmsen is a Lecturer in Musicology at the Department of Media and Culture Studies, Utrecht University. He holds a BA in Music from Utrecht Conservatory (2017), a pre-master's in Musicology, and a Research MA in Musicology (Cum Laude, 2023) from Utrecht University.
His research focuses on music revival theory, folk music, and intersections with national identity, the humanitarian sector, and cultural sovereignty. He contributes to teaching through courses like Documenting Music Cultures and Research Seminar in Musicology.
