Dr. Gabriel Bodard is Reader in Digital Classics at the Institute of Classical Studies, School of Advanced Study, University of London. His research applies digital methods to ancient texts, specializing in epigraphy, papyrology, and semantic web technologies.
Research interests include:
- Digital encoding of ancient texts (EpiDoc guidelines)
- Linked Open Data for historical person-data
- Geospatial analysis of archaeological artifacts
- Cross-cultural reception of classical sites
He leads projects like SNAP:DRGN, EFES, and Inscriptions of Roman Tripolitania, and organizes the Digital Classicist seminar series. His publications focus on digital editing, data standards, and pedagogy in classics.
Current doctoral supervisions include projects on Roman political structures, the cult of Liber Pater, and Roman urbanism.
